A few days after registering for Skype, I discovered that the recharge in Google Play failed. Recharge on the web page will automatically jump to shiguangpu.com. Which can only recharge in RMB, and VISA is not supported, and purchasing a Skype number is unavailable.
So I contacted Skype customer service (support.skype.com, online chat, only English conversations are supported here), and they told that Skype has partners in China, Taiwan, and South Korea, and users in these areas must purchase through their partners. Skype’s partner in China is shiguangpu.com. I am tagged as a user in China, so I should purchase it at shiguangpu.com.
I said I use a Hong Kong IP, why was it sent to China and marked as a user in China? The customer service asked if you have ever been to China, BALABALA…
I asked them to untag me as a Chinese region user. The Skype client asked me to provide proof of address outside of China, so I gave him a bank statement (Bank Statement) containing my name and Hong Kong address.
After two or three minutes, the Chinese flag is successfully cancelled. Then I can recharge directly with VISA on Skype, and can also buy Skype numbers from other countries.
